Fitness equipment group Technogym is working with Sports Orthopaedics Spinal (SOS), which has announced a collaboration with Ryder Cup Europe.
SOS will provide comprehensive health and fitness screening for the European Ryder Cup Team ahead of the 2008 competition at Valhalla GC, Louisville, Kentucky in September, which will include training on Technogym fitness equipment.
Nick Faldo, European Team Captain (pictured), has already been put through his paces, which began with a five hour 'dry run' at one of the SOS Centres. He is said to be 'enthusiastic' about the process, which he believes 'could make a significant difference during the Ryder Cup'.
The leading 20 players in the 2008 Ryder Cup Points List will be invited to undergo a comprehensive, three hour health and fitness screening procedure within the medical facility at the Wentworth Club from 22-25 May.
This will provide an in-depth analysis and assessment of their wellbeing and will include eight separate procedures which will be carried out under the scrutiny of five highly qualified clinicians, including bio-mechanical screening, cardiovascular analysis, strength testing, balance, flexibility, core stability, diagnostic and scanning procedures.
A key component to the success of the health and fitness screening is the Technogym equipment, which is featured at the SOS Centres.
The Excite Med line, in particular, is reported to be highly beneficial for physiotherapists and therapeutic environments. The treadmill, in conjunction with the CardioMemory software, has enabled the SOS centres to accurately monitor clients’ cv status and plan appropriate exercise and rehabilitation programmes where necessary.
